Salary policy is a term for the guidelines that are used as a basis for the remuneration of employees.
Traditionally, development in Norway has been based on the wage policy led by the two dominant main organizations in working life, the National Organization in Norway (LO) and the Business Confederation (NHO), later also the Central Confederation of Trade Unions (YS) and the The Federation of Norwegian Professional Associations (in Norwegian: Akademikerne).
It is also a matter of negotiation whether the salary development for all employee groups should be the same, for example so that the same percentage supplement is given to everyone, or whether other salary policy principles should be used as a basis.
